The TallyCard replaced the old currencies once adopted by individual nations becoming the new universal currency system. When paying for goods, the card is run through a machine that records how many Markz have been spent, removing it from your recorded balance. The Bank retains similar technology to that of the past, and issues TallyCard machines to all merchants who register, for a small fee. The pros outweigh the cons however as the TallyCard is used worldwide and is much more reliable than stones.
